Journeyman Electrician
Sandbox Solar keeps growing. You can see that by the size and number of projects on our website (sandboxsolar.com). You can see it in the number of Solar Install Crews we run now. You can see it in new lines of service that we’re hiring for (sandboxsolar.com/solar-careers) and new divisions we’re creating. And if you’re a Journeyman Electrician, there's an opportunity to join that growth while you continue to grow as an Electrician.
We’ve got a new position, created by that growth. We’re looking for a Journeyman Electrician to join our Electrical Department that currently consists of a couple Master Electricians and a Residential Wireman. This will be our first outside hire for a Journeyman Electrician. Others have worked through their Apprenticeship at Journey, and become licensed Wiremen, Journeyman, and even Master Electricians. Sandbox will continue to grow. Our Electrical department will continue to grow right along with it. And our Electricians will continue to grow as Sandbox provides training opportunities and allowances to support them. Sandbox Solar is a great place to take your Electrical career to the next level!
With the help of our electrical department, we are able to ensure end to end quality installations for our customers that are up to code specs and our company standards. This position will be involved with project tie-in and commissioning, helping to oversee projects from installation hand-off through the commissioning and operation to ensure code standards, quality, efficiency, and safety.
To be qualified for this position, you’d need:
- A Journeyman Electrician License (which must be maintained in good standing)
- At least 4 years performing PV Solar Interconnection or Equivalent experience
- The ability to work unsupervised on residential and commercial interconnections individually or in conjunction with other members of the electrical team
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Advanced knowledge of NEC
- OSHA 10 Certification
- The ability to climb and use ladders safely
- Willingness and ability to work long hours (+/- 10) outdoors in colorado weather
- A valid CO Driver’s License and a clean driving record (both of which must be maintained)
Bonus Points for:
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) Certification
- 2-3 Year experience performing PV system interconnection
- Roof experience
This will not be the right opportunity for those who:
- Aren’t a leader who can inspire a team to optimal performance with or without line authority
- Expect to merely direct the work of others as opposed to getting their hands dirty as part of a growing team
- Lack the confidence to be the technical electrical expert at a job site
- Can’t tolerate working outdoors in all types of Colorado weather…weird as that can be
- Are afraid of heights
- Can’t easily get along with a team of people working on a roof as well as the people living underneath it.
We expect to receive applications through June 15, 2024
