HVAC Service Manager
Sandbox Solar has ambitious plans! We intend to be the most respected and admired solar company in Colorado by 2024. We aren’t stopping there. We expect to be the most respected and admired solar company in the nation 2027. That sounds pretty impressive for a company that’s been around less than a decade. You should see what we’ve already accomplished! We’ve grown as fast as the industry, flourishing where others have only tried. Check out our work, awards, history, and team at sandboxsolar.com.
As part of our expansion into providing electrification for our customers and resilient HVAC solutions, we’re creating an entirely new position in an entirely new division. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HVAC Service Manager with expertise in heat pumps to lead our HVAC / Climate Solutions division.
Our HVAC Service Manager will be responsible for:
- Strategic leadership of the HVAC division, developing and implementing strategic plans, short-term and long-term goals, KPIs, and performance metrics
- Team management by fostering the Sandbox Solar culture within the HVAC division and through recruiting, training, mentoring, and managing the HVAC team
- Project Management of all HVAC projects, heat pump installations, maintenance, and repairs, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance
- Serving as the primary technical expert on heat pump systems, providing guidance and support by staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices
- Maintaining a strong focus on customer satisfaction, ensuring prompt resolution of any issues with the same kind of exceptional service that Sandbox is known for
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards in the installation and operation of heat pump systems
- Developing and managing the HVAC division’s budget, forecasting, expense tracking, and cost control measures, for cost optimization and revenue growth
Please Note: Since this is a new division and service line for us, the person who is right for the job will already be at the GM or other Management level. This won’t be an opportunity for an HVAC technical expert or foreman looking for career growth. Those opportunities may come!
We expect our HVAC Service Manager to possess:
- An ICC Mechanical License (or able to obtain immediately), NATE and EPA 608 (or equivalent) Certification, and OSHA 30
- A minimum 10 years of HVAC experience with a focus on heat pump systems, with progression to a management level job in an HVAC company for a minimum of 5 years
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- A valid CO Driver’s License and a clean driving record, along with the ability to maintain both
- The ability to climb and use ladders safely, and lift HVAC equipment
- The willingness and ability to work long hours (+/- 10) outdoors in Colorado weather
- Strong technical expertise in heat pump design, installation, troubleshooting, and
- maintenance
- Proven leadership skills with demonstrated success inspiring and motivating teams to achieve goals
- Excellent project management skills, with a track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HVAC software applications
Bonus points for:
- Experience in energy auditing or energy modeling
- Experience in plumbing
This will not be the right opportunity for those who:
- Aren’t a proven leader who can inspire a team to optimal performance
- Expect to merely direct the work of others as opposed to getting their hands dirty as part of a growing team
- Lack the confidence to be the technical expert in all things HVAC in general and heat pumps specifically
- Can’t tolerate working outdoors in all types of Colorado weather…weird as that can be
- Expect everything about the role to be already in place waiting for them to step into
Expected pay - $80,000 - $100,000 with bonus potential
We expect to receive applications for this position through the end of July, 2024
